At Smile Designer of Leesburg, we offer two types of teeth whitening: in-office and take-home. In-office whitening can be completed in about one hour while take-home kits take about two to three weeks to achieve the same results. We can help you determine which option is right for you based on your individual needs.
Opalescence® In-Office Teeth Whitening
Our advanced in-office whitening solution contains a high concentration of hydrogen peroxide. Due to the strength of the bleaching gel, this process can dramatically brighten your teeth by several shades in just one office visit. Dentist-supervised whitening also reduces the risk of tooth discomfort or sensitivity after treatment.
Opalescence At-Home Teeth Whitening
If you prefer to achieve a brighter smile in the comfort of your own home, you can opt for one of our take-home kits. Before you begin treatment, we will take impressions and craft custom bleaching trays. When you're ready to whiten your teeth, simply dispense the hydrogen peroxide bleaching gel into the trays, then wear them for a predetermined amount of time.
How Does In-Office Whitening Work?
Professional whitening utilizes hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide to gently break apart the bonds that cause staining. The bleaching gel is applied to the teeth, then activated with a specialized LED light.
Professional whitening treatments may cause temporary sensitivity for some patients. Your dentist may recommend using a desensitizing toothpaste to combat these side effects. Just be sure that any toothpaste you purchase contains fluoride and is approved by the ADA.
